This issue has led to the use of ready-made meals with great popularity in recent decades. This is what has made this industry reach a great position. Canned tuna is one of the most popular types of ready-made food, which has been selling extremely well in recent decades. For this reason, we are going to introduce you to the history of canned tuna.

History of canned tuna in the world

The history of canned tuna in the world goes back to 1790. At that time, the French government, like many European countries, was at war. Therefore, feeding the soldiers was one of the serious concerns of the French government. In the meantime, a French person named Nicola Aper started preparing and producing foods that did not require special storage conditions. On the other hand, he considered a reward of 12,000 francs for people who can produce these foods. He also researched and studied in this field. In 1798, he realized that by heating food in closed containers and preventing the penetration of air into these packages, the food contained in them can be stored for a long time.

In 1804, Nicola was able to offer the first canned food in glass containers. He had poured food into these jars and heated them in boiling water. After that, he gave the prepared canned goods to the sailors of the ships. When he was sure of the health of canned goods, in 1809 he presented the first canned goods to the national and food industries of France. After that, he handed over the cans to a French physicist for further research. After many years of research, he realized that the lack of oxygen in cans can lead to them staying healthy. Of course, later it became clear that this theory cannot be very true. In 1810, tin cans were designed that could better preserve the health of food.

History of canned tuna in Iran

Canned tuna was one of the most popular types of canned fish, which was very well received in different countries. Today, the consumption of tuna in Iran is much higher than in other countries of the world. Of course, in previous years, other canned fish such as kilka and sardine were also abundantly produced in Iran. But due to the fact that people did not welcome them like canned tuna fish, their production rate also decreased a lot. This is the reason why more canned tuna can be seen in Iranian markets today.

Types of canned tuna in Iran are usually prepared from four types of fish: Geider, Esbak, Zarde and Hoover. The reason for this is the lack of their canned smell. Because most people don't have a good relationship with the strong smell of fish and that's why they may regret using them. The color of the flesh of these tuna fish is pink and red, and this is why they are widely used in the canning industry.

In general, many sources believe that the first canned tuna was produced in Bandar Abbas, Iran, in 1316. It took about 31 years for the cans to reach their present shape and appearance. At that time, only two or three brands were active in this field. After the Russians promised to produce cans for their army in the 1940s, various brands began to operate in the supply of canning. Today, more than 300 brands are active in the canning industry, most of which offer healthy and high-quality foods to the market.
