This type of tuna lacks mechanisms to maintain the flow of water through the gills, so it must remain in constant motion; if it stops swimming, it dies of lack of oxygen.

Albacore (Thunnus Alalunga)

Albacore is one of the smaller species of tuna. For a long time, they were one of the main species of tuna used for canned tuna. Unlike other tuna that eat a variety of baits, albacore eats primarily squid. They are very migratory. In recent years, albacore has become a cheaper alternative to bluefin tuna and is often used in sushi because it is not endangered. It differs from bluefin tuna in that it has a larger pectoral fin than bluefin tuna and dark diagonal stripes on both sides of the dorsal area.
